world’s leading forums on the green economy – the World Green Economy Summit is one of the world’s leading forums on the green economy.
Returning to the Dubai World Trade Centre this October, the conference is all set to gather experts from around the world to discuss some of the green economy’s significant sectors. It remains focused on advancing the sustainability agenda.
The main aim of the summit is to achieve some of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and initiate dialogue between some of the industry’s biggest stakeholders. It’s all set to inspire change around the world by highlighting fresh ideas and technologies. Attendees will include academics, government officials, business leaders, and NGOs, and present opportunities to network and make new deals.

World Green Economy Summit (WGES) is one of the leading global forums on the green economy, bringing together world-class experts from around the world to directly focus on advancing the global green economy and sustainability agenda.
The Summit, held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President Prime Minister of UAE and The Ruler of Dubai. The mega event is organised by the Dubai Electricity & Water Authority and World Green Economy Organisation, in cooperation with Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and WETEX.

In collaboration with the long-term vision of establishing Dubai as the ‘Global Capital of the Green Economy’ – The Dubai Declaration included key commitments to: launch mega-sized green projects, such as the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, which will have an electricity generation capacity of 5,000 megawatts by 2030.
They decided to establish a renewable energy research and development centre equipped with the latest technologies. The implement the Green Mobility Initiative in Dubai was done to promote the use of electric vehicles. The team will continue working with the UN Development Program to support the growth of the World Green Economy Organisation.
They established the AED 100 billion ($27.25 billion) Dubai Green Fund to finance investments in clean energy. Last year the event decided to continue working towards the UAE Vision 2021, Dubai Plan 2021, UAE Green Agenda 2030, Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, UAE Centennial 2071 and the Paris Agreement. They continue to pursue the UAE National Climate Change Plan 2050 to become among the best-prepared countries to combat climate change.
