Ramadan 2018 – the important
period is going to begin on Thursday, May 17.
Ramadan 2018 dates in Dubai confirmed by UAE officials, these dates for Ramadan in the UAE have been officially confirmed following a meeting of the moon-sighting committee earlier this evening. The sacred period will officially begin on Thursday May 17. The committee had a meeting after the Maghrib prayer just after sunset at the Judiciary Department in Abu Dhabi.
Ramadan is a sacred time in the Islamic Calendar, when Muslims fast (also known as sawm) begins from sunrise to sunset for approximately 30 days. Following it is one of the five pillars of Islam.
Non-Muslims who are not a part in fasting must remember to follow a few instructions during this important time. They must dress appropriately and avoid eating, drinking, smoking or chewing gum in public during daylight
hours. Ramadan etiquettes must be followed, people can have a read of our Ramadan guide, and plan iftars. Working hours are going to be reduced by two hours during Ramadan and the school day is generally shortened to five hours.
Ramadan is a great time to embrace the Emirati culture and understand about the rich traditions and participate in iftars and charitable events.
