A second Mandarin Oriental hotel has opened in Dubai, according to the announcement – wasl Asset Management Group, the real estate development and management company is working on the project in Dubai. It is due to open in November 2020, and will be located on Shaikh Zayed Road, anchoring the 63-storey combination-use wasl Tower. The new hotel will open two years after the first Mandarin Oriental in Dubai, opening on Jumeirah Beach in the fourth quarter of 2018.
His Excellency Hesham Al Qasim, CEO of wasl Asset Management Group, commented: “We are pleased to be partnering once again with Mandarin Oriental to bring another elegant and sophisticated hotel to Dubai, which furthers wasl’s mandate to supply the Emirate’s hospitality sector with quality hotels. Combined with the premium property offering at wasl Tower, we are offering the height of luxury in both the hospitality and residential sectors, which wasl works to support in alignment with the vision of the UAE’s wise leadership.”
Both hotels are being developed in collaboration with Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, the international hotel investment and management group. Amsterdam-based UN Studio is the appointed architect of the 300-metre-high building, wasl Tower, which has been designed as an integrated urban environment that promotes connectivity and sustainability. The hotel will have 257 rooms, suites, and serviced apartments, which will be located on floors 16 to 38 of the tower. Enhancing wasl Tower’s residential offering, the hotel will also be home to 144 residences located on the tower’s upper floors.
A new luxury Madarin Oriental resort is set to debut in Dubai and will feature 12 overwater villas and a series of infinity pools that flow to Jumeirah Beach. The unique concept of water is intrinsic to the hotel’s design, which was conceptualised by Kuala Lumpur-based design firm DesignWilkes. The project will feature a series of beautiful infinity pools that will organically flow down towards the beach. The Mandarin Oriental Dubai will house nine restaurants and bars, including a fine dining destination set on a pier with a dock to allow for private yachts to moor outside. A second pier will station a sunset bar, and a Mandarin Oriental Cake Shop, casual poolside eatery and lobby lounge.
The hotel, located in downtown Dubai, will complement Mandarin Oriental Jumeira Beach, Dubai, the Group’s previously announced urban resort which is presently under construction on the beachfront and due to open in the fourth quarter of 2018. Both hotels are owned and developed by wasl Asset Management Group.
