Louvre Abu Dhabi is a universal museum and is working hard to create human connections through art, dating from prehistory to the present. A pioneering cultural project – the origins of Louvre Abu Dhabi is dated back to March 2007.

Louvre Abu Dhabi is famous as a new cultural beacon that brings a number of cultures under one roof to showcase on the shared stories of humanity. The UAE and France got together and formed a partnership for cultural exchange, and the highlight of this would be the establishment of Louvre Abu Dhabi on Saadiyat Island. Their collaboration is expected to present the UAE’s futuristic vision of cultural progression and openness, with France’s expertise in the world of art and museums. It would explore the shared themes that reveal and connect humanity.

A universal museum in the Arab world, Louvre Abu Dhabi focuses on uniting: the stories of human creativity. The museum presents different cultures together to shine fresh light on these common stories of humanity, beyond individual civilisations, times or places.

This exceptional philosophy guides the museum in each and every aspect it does, right from its foundation as a collaboration between two cultures, to the stunning architecture that combines French design with Arabic heritage. Louvre Abu Dhabi
