Berlin takes the lead in movies from spy thrillers to classics and also Hollywood blockbusters. The German capital is indeed a huge market for the film industry. Movie buffs will enjoy the film festival at independent film platform Cinema Akil. The film festival will be featuring eight contemporary films that showcase the ever-changing face of the German capital. These come with subitles.

Berlin: Symphony of a Great City (1927) will be showcased on August 23. The film is directed by Walter Ruttmann. This documentary is a famous silent classics to be featured by Germany. The film shows a day in the life of Berlin, from the empty streets in the morning to the buzzing pace of the day and the vibrant nightlife scene.

Berlin Bouncer (2019) will showcase on August 23, 28 and 29. The film is directed by David Dietl. The story is inspired by a real-life story that is based on the lives of thee of Berlin’s most legendary bouncers. The film chronicles thrilling bits of the city’s cultural history from the time of the fall of the Berlin Wall right up to the pulsating present.

Good Bye, Lenin! (2003) will be featuring on August 24, 27 and 28. The film is directed by Wolfgang Becker. Presenting East Berlin in autumn 1989, the story-line is about Alex Kerner and his family. After his mother slips into a coma and only wakes post eight months, he attempts to keep away information from her about the fall of the Berlin Wall and other major happenings. This clever tragicomedy was one of the most successful films in 2003, and promises many bittersweet moments.

One, Two, Three (1961) is showcasing on August 24, 25 and 27. Wings of Desire (1987) on August 25, 29 and 30 and A Coffee in Berlin (2012) will be presented on August 26 and 31 . Victoria (2015) to showcase on August 26, 30 and 31, The Pasta Detectives (2014) will be presented on August 30 and 31.
