Sports enthusiasts can watch out for some of the biggest names in tennis play to win big at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium. After being voted ‘Best Venue’ by players on the ATP World Tour, the stadium is a state-of-the-art facility for players, and provides fans a great view of all the matches. Audience can witness every spin, slice, and smash right from world’s best in tennis over the course of 13 action-packed days. Each year the event gets rave reviews from fans and 2018 is a promising year offering yet another exciting tournament. More event details will be shared closer to the competition.
With only a few days to go until play commences in
the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, organisers are delighted to welcome back the sponsors who are instrumental in helping the tournament achieve its goal of being one of the most respected and prestigious events on the world ATP and WTA tours. Among the prestigious list of sponsors associated with the event again this year is international bank J.P. Morgan, which has renewed its commitment for three more years. The firm provides a lot of support for a range of programs and initiatives focused on building a strong legacy in the UAE community through the tournament.
One of the key platforms through which J.P. Morgan provide support for the event are the J.P. Morgan Kids’ Days, which are a central element of the community outreach activities associated with the event.
The Kids’ Days see thousands of children from schools in the UAE and the region participate in an engaging and interactive tennis clinic and meet top ranked players, giving many of the children the opportunity to experience tennis for the first time.
J.P. Morgan’s work with the tournament also includes the “Women’s Event” which has the objective of encouraging female empowerment in the region. The event offers philanthropic organisations supported by J.P. Morgan in the UAE the opportunity to hear influential female leaders, and current and former athletes within the sporting industry speak about their experiences and provides a forum for women to share their advice, knowledge and expertise in areas including leadership, mentoring, and work/life balance. The discussions are focused on the crucial issues of workforce readiness, financial literacy, empowering women, supporting entrepreneurship and encouraging women to enter the private sector.
The tournament begins with the WTA event that
takes place 19th to 24th February and features seven of the top ten players including Wimbledon champion Garbine Muguruza, defending Dubai champion Elina Svitolina, former world number ones Karolina Pliskova and Angelique Kerber, and two-time Wimbledon winner Petra Kvitova, and the present world number two Simona Halep. The WTA event is followed by the 26th staging of the ATP World Tour 500 event between 26th February and 3rd March which includes world number four and ATP World Tour finals champion Grigor Dimitrov and recent Montpellier winner Lucas Pouille.
The Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships is owned and organised by Dubai Duty Free, and held under the patronage of H. H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
