WRM’s TAMM initiative complementary to the development of Abu Dhabi’s Delma Island
  5/16/2007 10:12:52 AM

Western Region Municipality The Western Region Municipality (WRM), has successfully improved government services provision on Delma Island, through the TAMM Centre initiative launched in 2005. Meaning ‘completed’ in English, the initiative has prompted more than 50,000 annual transactions of essential government services on the Island, including health, traffic, communication and legal services, at one convenient location.

Working in association with Injazat Data Systems, the region’s leading Information Technology Outsourcing (ITO) and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) company, the WRM launched the Centre on Delma Island to provide a single point of service delivery and simplified transactions for residents of the island. The TAMM initiative is aimed at easing transaction traffic in Abu Dhabi by setting up distributed government outposts in six cities to offer Western Region residents a full-range of one-stop services.

“The Western Region has previously faced logistical challenges and accessibility issues in channelling services from Abu Dhabi’s many government agencies to its citizens, as transactions have previously had to be completed in person at government offices in Abu Dhabi City. The new TAMM initiative makes it possible for WR residence to conveniently conduct transactions without the long return drive to Abu Dhabi, lengthy queues and long waiting times,” Khalifa Al Mansouri, Regional Manager, TAMM, added.

A total of six cities are targeted for development under the TAMM initiative, including Madinat Zayed, Mirfa, Ghayathi, Silaa, Liwa and Delma Island, with the future branches opening within the next few years. The key objectives of the initiative are to improve the provision of government services, develop a new governance model and evaluate possible levers to spur economic development.

Injazat Data Systems is working in association with WRM to develop a flexible and responsive IT environment for the Delma Island Centre and future branches. Services provided by Injazat include desktop support, service desk, distributed systems management, network monitoring, data centre operations and project management.

“The systems and applications integrated into the TAMM Centre consistently provide 99.5 per cent uptime, enabling thousands of transactions each year. Injazat is delighted to contribute to the achievement of dramatic service improvements through effective, accessible and centralised service delivery, indirectly supporting the development of the Western Region’s economy,” said Ibrahim Mohamed Lari, Chief Executive Officer, Injazat Data Systems.

“The TAMM initiative has successfully spearhead the transformation and economic and social development of Abu Dhabi’s Western Region,” Lari added.
Government Departments associated with the TAMM centre include the Emirates ID Authority, Abu Dhabi Police, General Authority for Health Services, Notary Public, Ministry of Social Affairs, Ministry of Labour, Abu Dhabi Municipality, Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Naturalisation and Residency Administration, Abu Dhabi Distribution Company, Etisalat, Abu Dhabi Department of Economy and Planning, Emirates Post, National Bank of Abu Dhabi, ATM, E-Dirham and the National Health Insurance Company

Injazat aims to become the premier information technology and business process outsourcing services provider in the region. Growth is driven through Mubadala’s knowledge of the Middle East business environment plus the delivery capabilities of EDS – creating a local company with the experience of a global player.
