Porsche Team Dubai represented by Karim Al Azhari and his co-pilot Blair Cole, who are also team members of Al Nabooda Racing Team, is gearing up to showcase the Porsche Cayenne S Transsyberia in the gruelling 6,600-kilometre 2007 Transsyberia Rally from 2 August to 17 August.
Karim Al Azhari, 2006 and 2007 Gulf Radical Cup Champion, and Blair Cole, Team Manager of Al Nabooda Racing Team, will be competing between Moscow and the Mongolian capital of Ulaanbaatar in a manufactured modification of the Porsche Cayenne S named after the Transsyberia Rally and developed specifically to deliver even greater performance in long-distance rallies.
Hans Georg Brune, General Manager of Porsche Centre Dubai, Al Nabooda Automobiles LLC, said: “I’m looking forward to seeing the Cayenne S Transsyberia’s tremendous off-road ability and endurance deliver a great performance. Our drivers have been trained to make the most of the Cayenne S capabilities, and I am sure our team will compete brilliantly in these rugged and demanding conditions.”
Karim Al Azhari, who is also President of the Porsche Club UAE, said: “This Rally really tests drivers and their vehicles with harsh off-road challenges including river-crossings and sand dunes. I am fully confident the winning team combination of Porsche Team Dubai and the Cayenne S Transsyberia will achieve wonderful results under these extreme conditions.”
The Porsche Cayenne S Transsyberia combines its 385 bhp with a host of special features including extra-tough tyres, a safety cage, a shorter final drive ratio, a transverse lock; a reinforced underfloor cover and enhanced track control arms on the front axle.
Porsche Team Dubai’s participation in the rally follows the outstanding performance in last year’s Transsyberia Rally of two teams driving the Porsche Cayenne S. On their first attempt at the race they finished first and second.
The main sponsors of the Porsche Team Dubai in the 2007 Transsyberia Rally are Polimar, the UAE’s leader in vehicle refinishing consumables and equipment supplies; and MAHA, a pioneer in the fields of quality, service and technology for vehicle testing and lifting.
Ara Pierre Keusseyan, Polimar’s Managing Director, said: “As suppliers of high-performance products, we are delighted to be associated with the remarkable Porsche Cayenne S Transsyberia and the exceptional Al Nabooda Racing Team.” |
